The village of Grohote is at the centre and crossroads of the island of SOLTA.  It hosts the local government administration offices for Solta and is home to both the main Police and Fire Stations and a Medical Clinic.  A Post Office and Pharmacy are also in Grohote.

Medical Clinic opening hours: 0730 - 1900hrs (7:30AM - 7:00PM) Monday - Friday. Closed weekends. A phone call to the clinic, after hours, will direct you to a Doctor "on call".  A Medi-Vac helicopter emergency service is available for transportation to larger hospitals in Split, on the mainland.

Pharmacy opening hours: 0800 - 2030hrs (8:00AM - 8:30PM) Monday - Friday. Closed weekends.

Post Office opening hours: 0900 - 1700hrs (9:00AM - 5:00PM) Monday - Saturday. Closed Sundays.

ATM's, Credit cards and Currency exchange:  Automated Bank Cash Machines are located in Grohote (between the Post Office and Studenance Supermarket) and Necujam(in the holiday village) at present.         MasterCard and VISA Debit and Credit cards are accepted in many stores and restaurants.  Limited services for currency exchange are available at the Post Office in Grohote.  There are currently no regular banks on the island of Solta.  Numerous general banking, wire transfer and currency exchange facilities are available in Split.  The local Croatian currency is Kuna. Most holiday accommodation transactions are payed in Euros.

Food Markets:   Most villages have food stores.  Necujam's holiday village has a seasonal (May - October)supermarket and the largest supermarket (open year round) is in Grohote.  You will also be able to shop everyday at the mini open market in Grohote where you can usually find fresh meat, seafood, fruits, vegetables, locally  produced honey, wines, olive oil, and other locally made products.  Opening times and produce do vary according to the time of year.

Sundries and Tourist Items:  In Maslinica, Stormorska, Necujam and Grohote you'll find various shops that sell pre-paid phone cards, magazines, picture postcards, confectionery and cigarettes.

Transport Rentals:  Through M-traveltouristservice you can rent cars, motor-scooters, bicycles, boats and kayaks.  All rentals are based at their offices in the village of Stomorska, but you can also phone/email to reserve your rental.  It can be delivered to you if you do not have a way to get there.  There are also numerous rental agencies of all types in the city of Split and at Split airport if you choose to rent, before arriving on the island of SOLTA.

Local Bus and Taxi services:   All bus services are scheduled to co-ordinate with the arrival and departure of car ferries and catamarans(passenger only) in the main port of Rogac.  Schedules are posted in most villages. Tickets are purchased from the drivers as you board.  There are Taxi and Mini-bus taxis available "on demand".  It is advisable to book well in advance.

Car Ferry and Catamaran services:  Daily services run between Rogac and Split, on the mainland, every day of the week - year round.  Summer schedules run with more frequency and do include stops at Stormorska and Necujam on certain days.  Schedules are subject to change so it's always best to check with the ticket office in Rogac(for both car ferry and catamaran) or the ticket booths near the Riva in Split (for catamaran service) and the main Jadrolinija car ferry terminal building at the harbour in Split.  Ticket prices are quite reasonable, but are subject to change.  Examples are: 1 way single adult foot passenger ticket is 27Kuna(3.5euro/$5.00Usd) - lower prices for children between 3 and 12 years old.  A 1way single auto ticket(including driver) is 126Kuna(17euros/$28.00Usd) - lower charges for motor scooters and bicycles and higher charges for larger vehicles, cars with trailers and camper vans.  There is limited parking for cars in Rogac if you choose to visit Split on a day trip.

Fuel Station:  There is only one fuel station on the island of SOLTA, in Rogac.  It is located midway between the car ferry berth and the catamaran berth.  The open hours of service are normally scheduled to co-ordinate with the arrivals of the car ferries, with longer hours of operation in the main holiday season of May through September.  This INA fuel station offers a choice of petrol grades and diesel to all vehicles.  It has a fuel service for watercraft at it's quayside pumps.  You can also purchase oil, batteries, auto bulbs and certain other automobile items here.

Religious services:  Each village has a church. the predominant faith is Roman Catholic. Services are conducted in Croatian. Evensong service is usually held each day at 1800hrs (6:00PM) and a regular Sunday morning service usually starts at 0900hrs (9:00AM). If you wish to attend, please check with your local hosts for times and customs.
